Effects of Maternal Prenatal Smoking on Adolescent Offspring Smoking
College of Physicians and Surgeons

The Centre for Tobacco Prevention has undertaken a prospective longitudinal study of 3,000 fifth graders (age 11) in Stockholm County to identify the risk factors for onset of smoking and progression to regular smoking (BROMS). The children will be followed annually through the end of high school (age 18). In our collaboration, we will focus on the effect of prenatal exposure to maternal smoking.
